PES is actively committed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are to be achieved by 2030 seventeen core objectives for sustainable development. These goals address crucial issues such as poverty, hunger, health, education, clean water, climate protection and peace.
Statistically, around 17 percent of all food worldwide ends up unused in the bin. This includes "expired" products, but also fruit and vegetables that can no longer be sold because of minor cosmetic defects. Many supermarkets, as well as large bakeries, donate food to a good cause. A large number of volunteers take care of rescuing and distributing food.
PES is also helping to pursue the goal of sustainable consumption (SDG 12). As part of our commitment, PES has already donated two old vehicles from its fleet to the Nuremberg Association for Food Saving & Sustainability.
Over the last four years, the association has saved an incredible 340 tons of food and made it available to people from all social classes.
